Review: Byblos
Jul 29th, 2007 by Vik
The night wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the hooka bar right? Byblos is one of the better spots to check out in the city - be warned though, this place is not where you should go for an intimate or quiet setting. Byblos in-your-face style promises to give you a place full of smoke (this IS a hooka bar) and very loud music. Very loud. In fact that’s probably my main complaint - you really can’t even hear the person next to you speak it’s so loud.
The other oddity is that this place is a restaurant first, then gradually makes the progression into dance club - although there’s really nowhere to dance, just the walkways between the tables. Not that that stops anyone really - it’s not uncommon to have someone shaking their ass right next to your table (which can be good or bad…).
The hookas here are good also, and the service is ok. I don’t know that you could really expect outstanding service at a place that gets this crowded with little room for movement. The best advice would be to stick near the bar area and get drinks directly from there.
