Thinking of moving to Philadelphia?
Nov 17th, 2007 by Vik
The New York Daily News has a great - and I mean that - feature on “living in Philadelphia”. The writeup goes through each of the local neighborhoods and is geared towards those working in NYC but residing (or thinking about residing) in Philadelphia.
My only bone to pick with the article is the amount for rent that it quotes. Find me a place that I can pay $1,000/month for that’s livable! Maybe he knows of a secret rent-controlled area that I - a Philly resident - am not aware of.
I actually considering working in NYC and living in Philadelphia, but the cost of rent + commute ($1000/month for the Amtrak pass) made it unreasonable. I guess that makes 2 bones to pick. No doubt the Acela is fast - but if it’s going to cost me another $1K BEFORE I even get into the city, why not just live in NYC.
Regardless of these shortcomings, I stand by my statement that the description of the neighborhoods are worth a read.
