Free, full service heart screenings - Feb 21
Feb 18th, 2008 by Vik
In our endless effort to offer up events and happenings in Philadelphia, we also like to point out some local activities that will make our city healthier - given our penchant for indulging in artery clogging cheesesteaks, this one seemed particularly noteworthy.
The Sister to Sister foundation will be hosting the National Woman’s Heart Day Health Fair in Center City Thursday, February 21, 2007, from 8AM to 3PM in the Philadelphia Convention Center.
Guests will also be able to take part in fitness, beauty and cooking demonstrations as well as seminars by nationally known experts on nutrition, obesity, fitness, quitting smoking and stress management, all elements necessary in beginning or continuing a heart healthy routine.
The Sister to Sister Foundation, a non-profit organization geared towards educating women on heart health, is providing free heart health screenings, which includes cholesterol testing, blood pressure, blood glucose, body mass index and overall risk assessment, advice on reducing one’s personal risks for heart disease and guidance on adopting heart healthy lifestyles. The testing will be conducted by certified health professionals, including medical staff from University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing.
With the holidays past us and Spring-like weather (at least today) showing up, now is a great time to resume your healthy habits - and this event promises to be full of useful information.
